Let me answer it by telling you what Nigerian Pidgin Language Alphabet (NPLA) is not.
Nigerian Pidgin Language Alphabet is not the English Alphabet.
Nigerian Pidgin Language alphabet is similar to the alphabet of many Nigerian languages.
The alphabet is also similar to Cameroon Pidgin and Krio (Sierra Leone) Pidgin alphabets.
The whole Bible (Genesis to Revelation) has already been translated into Krio using the Krio alphabet. This Bible has been published.
The New Testament has been translated into Cameroon Pidgin and it has also been published. The translators used the Cameroon Pidgin alphabet to carry out the translation.
Now let's talk about what Nigerian Pidgin Language Alphabet (NPLA) is…
The alphabet of Nigerian Pidgin Language is unique to the language.
NPL Alphabet is the language’s alphabet as was adopted during a workshop Mercy Christian Ministry International held with linguists in 2003 at University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
The workshop was, among other things, to standardize the orthography of Nigerian Pidgin Language.
Based on the decision reached during the meeting, the following are important things you need to take note of concerning NPL Alphabet…
1. Nigerian Pidgin Alphabet stands on its own as a distinct language.
2. Its alphabet is different from other alphabets.
3. Writing and spelling NPL words differ from the way English words are written and spelt.
3. Do you want to read and write NPL correctly? Then stick to the standardized way experts say is the correct way to do so.
